BOZEMAN, Mont. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) today announced their endorsement of Representative Steve Daines in the race for Montana’s open U.S. Senate seat.
“I’m honored to receive the support of the National Rifle Association,” said Daines. “As a fifth generation Montanan and lifelong sportsman, I know that the Second Amendment isn’t just about hunting— it is about freedom. I remain committed to fighting to protect and defend Americans’ Second Amendment right and will stand firm against any efforts to infringe upon Montanans rights to keep and bear arms.”
Recognizing Daines’ strong leadership on Second Amendment issues, the NRA also gave Daines an “A+” rating. In a press release announcing their endorsement, the NRA says, “An “A+” rating is the highest possible rating and is reserved for legislators with an excellent voting record on critical NRA issues who have also made a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment.”
“We can count on Steve Daines to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in the U.S. Senate,” Chairman of the NRA-PVF Chris W. Cox said. “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Steve for his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in Montana to vote Steve Daines for U.S. Senate on November 4.”
Daines has been a vocal opponent of President Obama and Senate Democrats’ proposals to restrict Americans’ Second Amendment rights, and has stood firmly against legislation that threatens Montanans’ freedom to keep and bear arms. He successfully led the call for the House to block sweeping restrictions on firearms and create new “universal background checks” and more red tape for gun owners.
The NRA is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen’s group and has over five million members who uphold the Second Amendment. The NRA is a leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
